It's beautiful how a refugee's life can change so quickly...

I was so blessed this morning when I received an email from World Relief Chicago. At first I thought it was a general email about WR, but I was SO excited when I saw that it was a newsletter update! I've copied and pasted the following from their newsletter:

"Congratulations Kikan, and  Go Cubs!
Employee of the Month at Wrigley Field - April 2011
Kikan arrived in Chicago from Iraq in May of 2010, and quickly sped through his English classes at World Relief Chicago.  With the help of employment staff, Kikan applied the same diligence to his job search as he did in his studies and was hired at Wrigley Field in the spring of 2011.  In preparation for his interview (although the position was in concessions), he even learned about baseball!  His heart and dedication to the customer was immediately recognized by his supervisor, and out of the hundreds of concession workers at Wrigley Field, Kikan was named Employee of the Month in April 2011!."

Kikan was one of my students last fall, and I was incredibly blessed to hear that he is doing so well, and I'm so proud of his hard work at Wrigley Field!
